Lovely Open Stitch Basket with Red Yucca Root Trim

This handwoven Tohono O'odham round basket is by Myra Marks and measures approximately 6 inches in diameter and 1.25 inches deep.

Plant materials are hand gathered from the Sonoran Desert for basket weaving. The interior green coils (warp) are native Beargrass and the white stitches (weft) woven around the coils are sun-bleached Soaptree Yucca. Red trim is a rare material from the Yucca root.
